The time capsule containing a message to future generations was ceremonially embedded in the building’s foundations by the key representatives involved in the development of Lindenholma Phase II: Romāns Astahovs, Managing Director of Vastint Latvia; Mārcis Jankaitis, Project Manager; Gatis Didrihsons, Lead Architect (Didrihsons arhitekti); Jānis Sīviņš, representing the general contractor CONSIUS; and Jānis Zolbergs, Construction Supervisor (FORMA 2).

The participants highlighted the project’s long-term contribution to the urban environment and its high standards of construction quality.

“The name Lindenholma reflects the local history and the quarter’s location,” said Romāns Astahovs, Managing Director of Vastint Latvia. “The time capsule reflects our commitment to responsible urban development and preserving local heritage. Lindenholma is the result of extensive work, a clear vision and careful planning. Our aim is to create a sustainable, long-lasting environment for residents and visitors.”

Project Manager Mārcis Jankaitis confirmed that the progression fully aligns with the construction schedule. “Currently we are executing foundation and basement substructures,” Jankaitis explained. “Assembly of above-ground reinforced concrete structures will commence shortly. The physical presence of the buildings will soon become visible.”

Didrihsons arhitekti are the architects behind the Lindenholma architectural concept.

“We take pride in our fifteen-year partnership with Vastint,” noted Gatis Didrihsons, Lead Architect of Didrihsons arhitekti. “This continuous collaboration enables us to advance our shared urban vision.”

He emphasised small-town architectural scaling, subtle proportions and expansive landscaping. “The Lindenholma concept mirrors the charm of a Latvian small-town centre,” he elaborated. “Key elements include pitched roofs, thoughtful window layouts, abundant greenery and varied clay brick façades. The second phase will maintain stylistic continuity with the initial development. We will continue expanding the gardens and extending walking paths to create an even stronger sense of a quarter and community for the residents.”

Jānis Sīviņš, Managing Director of the general contractor CONSIUS, has been involved in the project since its very beginning. “It is very rewarding to see how much has already been achieved. Lindenholma’s thoughtful architecture and well-designed landscaping continue to be appreciated by both residents and visitors. Vastint’s constructive, honest and professional approach makes it easier for us to engage and motivate our contractors. We aim to provide everyone working on site with good working conditions, a positive and friendly environment, as well as opportunities to celebrate important milestones together.”

Jānis Zolbergs, Construction Supervisor at FORMA 2, said: “We are pleased to be part of the development of one of the most beautiful and thoughtfully designed new neighbourhoods. Each subsequent stage of development reinforces Lindenholma as a unified, modern quarter where residential space, work environments and services complement each other, providing long-term benefits to the entire surrounding area.”

About Lindenholma residential quarter

Lindenholma Phase I comprises 209 apartments of various sizes and layouts, 119 of which are available for long-term rental, either partly or fully furnished.

Continuing the development of Lindenholma, Phase II will introduce seven energy-efficient Class A residential buildings with 194 homes for long-term rental. The new development will include both multi-storey apartment buildings and urban villas, offering a variety of options for different lifestyles – from compact studios to spacious two-level apartments with private terraces. Each home will be equipped with kitchen appliances, built-in furniture and lighting. Residents will also have access to individual storage units and shared laundry rooms. The buildings are planned to be completed gradually in autumn 2028.

One of Lindenholma’s key qualities is its spacious, richly landscaped outdoor environment. The car-free courtyards are designed as a park-like setting with children’s playgrounds, a sports area and bicycle parking. In Phase I, buildings occupy 36% of the total area, while 54% is dedicated to green, car-free park space.
